IESE is the top business school in Europe and eighth in the world, according to the ranking of MBA programs released today by the British magazine The Economist. The top five spots are occupied by the American schools Booth (Chicago), Northwestern (Kellogg), Virginia (Darden), Harvard and Stanford. IESE is the number one European business school and is number eight worldwide.

The British publication highlights the diversity of MBA students, which creates a unique multicultural experience; experiences in the classrooms and in the international modules throughout the world; and the work of Career Services, which results in 91% employment among graduates three months after completing the program.

The ranking is based on surveys of more than 50,000 MBA graduates, in addition to data provided by the various schools and the results of previous editions of the ranking. The survey gives special weight to four factors: the creation of new career opportunities (35%), professional development opportunities and educational experience (35%), salary enhancement (20%) and networking (10%). The result combines data from schools with students’ opinions.

American schools remain the clear winners of The Economist’s ranking this year; they occupy 17 of the 25 spots and seven of the top ten. Although for the first time an Australian school climbs into the top ten.

IESE’s Full-time MBA program was founded in 1964 as Europe’s first MBA program. Since its inception, the program has benefited from the guidance of the Harvard-IESE Committee. In 1980, the program became the first bilingual MBA program in the world.

Today more than 80% of the program’s students are from abroad, and the program has international modules in four continents, in New York, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Nairobi. In the last half century, the program has trained more than 10,000 executives from around the world.
